The Satellite Precipitation Comparison (SPC) provides a comprehensive website platform to visualize, analyze and compare precipitation data obtained by different sources, ensuring high accuracy and usability for hydrological and meteorological applications.

SPC analyzes more than 30 precipitation products coming from satellite, radar and rain gauge sensors. Precipitation products differ in spatial and temporal resolution, observation frequency, cumulative type, and more features.

SPC performs over 50 comparisons between individual products taking into account the spatial and temporal information available by each one. The spatially and temporally overlapping products are scaled into a common regular grid and compared pixel by pixel through in-depth statistical analysis.

The results of the individual comparisons are stored in a database, are temporally aggregated and contribute to the generation of hourly, daily, monthly, seasonal, annual and overall results.
